Description
The stele was found in four pieces in 1913 during the excavations of the Loredan via, in a layer containing clay materials. The figurative mirror is represented by a sculpture, in high-relief, of a battle between a Loricate knight and a naked infantryman: the warrior on horseback advances to the right holding the shield in his left hand and the sword, now missing, in his right hand and striking the warrior nude. The scene most likely depicts the fight of Venetians against Gauls.
