Interlocked Ring Trophy
Interlocked Ring Trophy

Here is one of my trophy entries for the 3D Printing Industry Awards 2020. This trophy has three interlocked rings and a clear structure in the center. The rings are free to move relative to one another but cannot be separated in a sense showing unity as they are “locking arms”. This could also make the trophy more fun to play with as it has moving parts and is not static.
The three rings printed as one piece is a great example of some of the complex parts that can be made with 3D printing. SLS or MJF would be ideal since support structures needed to hold those rings in place would be very complicated otherwise. The gaps in those rings are designed with tolerances for SLS and MJF in mind. The central structure is a great example of the intricate features an SLA printer is capable of.
