Replacement wheel for upright carry-on luggage. Was initialy made for a LONDON FOG Stratford 20/21-Inch Expandable Upright Spinner. In Canada, they are sold by LaBaie/Hudson Bay Company; 21in Upright Spinner.
Most brands use the same size of wheels, nowadays: 1 7/8in x 3/4in.
This replacement wheel can significantly extend the life of your carry-on luggage. Cut or grind off the axle of the worn out wheel, remove the 2 bearings and put them on the newly printed wheel after a bit of cleaning and lubrification. Install back using a long screw (6mm dia.) and nylon lock nut. Diameter of the wheel is 49mm.
The original back wheels get worn out faster. The front ones are still in great shape.
My original back wheels were assymetric and a bad idea; when tilted to walk around the back wheels were tilted sideways wearing them at an accelerated pace. All their luggage now have symmetrical wheels.
The wheels in the pictures had been replaced 2.5 years ago. I'll replace them as they are getting too worn out. In the end, I did replace both back wheels. Last 3 pictures show the newly printed wheel. This piece of luggage still has many years of service to offer.
I suggest PLA, 30% fill, 4 layers at least. Support on the inside hub will improve the fit of that bearing.
I used 50% fill, 6 layers top/bottom/sides on excellent Materio3D black PLA.
