Description
This type of sculpture has been related to a cult that originated at Monte Alto, Escuintla, and spread to the Guatemalan Highland and the town of Santa Leticia in western El Salvador. They were most popular between the years 400 BC to 250 AD. The sculptures take the form of a whole body or only a face, and their sizes vary.
