Description
One of the characteristics of Romeo and Juliet's legendary love is that death does not do them part but reunites them. With this relief, Starkopf's seems to represent the two young lovers finally together - with their closed eyes and peaceful expression, one may surely suppose they are dead. The way their heads are oriented towards each other, and the intimate position of their head laying on their shoulder suggests an eternal-lasting love.
