Halloween Design Competition WINNER!- Curiosity Cabinet
Specimen 165b (Lucanidae Chiroptera. loc: Guatemala) In the central part of the Northern point of the rainforest close to the Laguna El Repasto, at an elevation probably of fifty feet, I observed a pale glint of light projecting from the surface of a petrified tree. On closer inspection I saw that the light was captured and reflected by the wings of a creature, which appeared to be a horned beetle. At second glance it became apparent that the wings belonged to a far more horrifying creature of a like which I had not previously encountered. With horns protruding from the sides of its beaked head, and most curiously, mammal features such as the limbs of a common English bat, it is this specimen which I present here. print size wing to wing 20cm. use real pins to add realism.
