Description
The figure is represented at rest, with his club leaning on a rocky spur and the skin of the Nemean lion (leonté), an attribute that refers to the first of the twelve labours of the hero. On the base there is a modern inscription (not clear in scan): "Nemios". The sculpture is the work of a Roman artist of the 2nd Century A.D., derived from a sculpture of the 4th century B.C. attributed to the Greek sculptor Lysippus.
