As a graduating student with a B.S. in Engineering, I needed something to go out with style. Designed and printed days before the ceremony, it added the perfect ammount of nerdy awesomeness to the graduation ceremony.
This slides onto the graduation cap, underneath the button without damaging the cap at all so they can be returned if needed. From experience, I reccommend a small piece of tape to keep the whole thing from spinning while turning the crank.
Printing advice:
Print the crank and baseplate with support material, the crank on its side. The rest of the parts should be printable without much extra consideration.
Assembly:
I had some spare hardware lying around to make it look even nerdier, but it shouldn't be necessary. You could use a piece of a wire coat hanger to hold the crank and linkage arms in place, just glue them into the small holes to keep them from falling out.
