Le Marchand de Masques (the mask vendor) is a larger than life bronze sculpture by Zacharie Astruc (1835-1907). From the information on the accompanying plaque, the vendor is' present[ing] the masks of [Victor] Hugo, [Jean-Baptiste-Camille] Corot, [Alexandre] Dumas fils, Hector [Berlioz], [Jean-Baptiste] Carpeaux, [Gabriel] Faure, [Eugene] Delacroix, [Honoré de] Balzac and [Jules-Amédée] Barbey d'Aurevilly; a piece to commemorate and applaud alll great artists, sculptors, painters, composers and writers of France and to celebrate the culture of the country.
