Description
This scenic mask relates to either of the main theatre genres, tragedy, comedy and satirical drama. The god of theatre, Dionysus was often presented in the form of a simple bearded mask fastened to a draped pillar. He is the masked god, and one of the rare divinities granted immortality.
The mask was discovered in Chiragan Roman villa.
