Description
Plaster cast of a relief from the Nereid Tomb in Turkey, showing ancient Greek soldiers, called hoplites, in battle. The soldiers on the left is wearing a Corinthian helmet, and carries a hoplon or shield. Hoplites fought eight or more ranks deep and carried spears.
