Description
The triptych is a form usually seen in paintings – it has here been adapted by the artist to sculpture. The three frames allow the comparison with the painting form, but also enhance the impression of depth given by the relief and the contrast between the relief and the frame. On the left the Virgin is represented, next to her son, Jesus in the middle frame. On the left, one may recognize Saint John as he is often represented without a beard.
