Come on over to our Discord channel to troubleshoot!
FDM Printing:
We have provided some files with integrated print supports you punch out after printing, these files are FDM-supports. We use pliers to remove them. (there are 8 supports per OpenLOCK port).
Recommended orientation is flat to the print bed. (Not on edge, thought it has been done)
We can recommend PLA and ABS, as we have used both.
We typically print in .15mm layer height.
SLA printing:
First as you all know if you have a resin printer, it can be finicky depending on resin type, temperature, and post print cure conditions.
We recommend a less brittle resin, ABS-like or fast are two ways it is described. Standard resins can shatter with forces you see pushing parts together or if you drop pieces.
We have done the most prints with Siraya tech Fast Grey. It prints and cures atand we still get a press fit.
Clear resins can have warping issues from refraction, we have experienced this.
Dust settling into your print bed can cause issues.
Don’t leave resin prints overnight in your ultrasonic cleaner and solution, they will warp!
Keep a exacto knife and sand paper to recover any minor errors you encounter.
If you are experiencing tight fit ups use the extra tolerance file. We adjusted it after feedback to ease fit up. Wehave never used it for our productions as all our resin pieces come out fine, but tight.
Watch out for sun curing the hollow parts with long flat surfaces. You can get warping.
Consider curing detail pieces sitting in a hexbase file if you are worried about warping during cure, we haven’t had to do this but was advice shared we thought we could pass on.
We have had better luck with resin printy springy clip in terms of durability before failure.

While I think this system is really cool, after I got it, it became very clear it is missing variety in pieces. I planned doing a tunnel system for my DnD Underdark/ Caverns Campaign, but had to realize the limitations very quickly, the corner and half hex pieces also are missing a lot of options to make it flush. Each only having one Option beside flat, forcing you to do specific builds at the edges, if you do want to have walled edges. The inserts are also super limited, if you do not want trees there is only a single stone and flat surface. Even when this example has not everything build in yet, the limitations are staggering and important to be realized before beginning a big project. In essence, everything you get is in pictures shown on the store page. Hopefully someday they will add or sell more variety of the already existing systems instead of only doing new systems.
