If you are going to try this, you're going to want to run the stepper board (using the + and - pins on the driver) off of a 12V (or even 9V) power source, not the 5V pin on the RPi or Arduino. It's not particularly good for the board, and it's not powerful enough to run the stepper at a consistent RPM.
Not too much build plate heat if you can afford it. The stepper gear will work well with a raft. the top should have cooling fans once about halfway up, and I found the base printed really well with Cura's bridging settings.
