How exciting it is to get a chance to design a trophy for the 2017 3dpi Awards!
My design incorporates elements of 3d printing by including an extruder head as the designs fenial. I also tried to incorparate some traditional art deco trophy details with the dual inset rails. The protrusion on the extruders block is meant to represent a cooling fan with an inlaid star. I also added Recessed panels along the plinth block, to allow the Awards to have an engraved plate mounted if the organizers of the awards are interested.
I printed the model in the pictures with my Flashforge Finder. It was printed at 25% just to test it out. I didnt use any supports but think the overall quality would have been better if i did. Also some of the detail was lost in my print. due to scaling and I printed at lower quality setting on my printer.
Extruder head has an 1/8" hole to acomidate any further numeral embeloshments
I had a great time designing this award, what a cool challenge!
