Description
The distinctive body and support is highly characteristic of the Capitoline Venus type, a style of statue of Venus, specifically one of several Venus Pudica (modest Venus) types, of which several examples exist. Where this work differs from other Capitoline types is the position of the head which, instead of looking to one side, her gaze travels directly forwards. This is known as The Dresden-Capitoline Type.
