I needed a lamp for my desk, for when I’m sanding new models or when I just need to see what I’m doing, but I couldn’t find a lamp which I liked. So therefore I decided to make my own, and thus was Bob created. The actual lamp is one of the push off/push on lighting units which seem to be available in any hardware store for a very small amount of money (usually in packs of two or three) which fits into the 3D-printed model. The neck will rotate by 360 degrees and the head will tilt through 180 degrees so you’ll have plenty of flexibility to put the light exactly where you need it. Just make sure that children know that it’s not a toy; all the ones who have seen it so far have thought he’s so cute!
You can print the sections in different colours (as shown in the photos) or print them all the same but as soon as you put them together you won't have to take them apart again. The head has holes for 3x5mm neodymium magnets if you'd prefer to stick them in to hold the Ramsta in place, but I found that they don't hold as well as just sticking the unit in place with its sticky pad (but the downside of that approach is that it's a little more difficult to change the batteries). However you use it he's still cute!
You can also order Bob, fully printed in a range of colours (even with the lighting unit attached!) from my Etsy store - www.etsy.com/uk/shop/enterprisexddesign. Order today!
