The Carryball is a portable solar powered light.
A 3D printed handle and base are fitted to a commercially available solar powered LED garden ball to create the portable light.
When placed in sunlight during the day, a photovoltaic panel in the garden ball will harvest energy from the sunshine and charge a battery in the ball.
At night the battery powers a high brightness LED to turn the ball into a luminous orb.
The 3D printed handle and base for the ball are printed in pieces that are assembled with M4 x 10mm nylon bolts.
The 3D printed base includes two protrusions which mate with two recesses in the globe to secure the globe to the base.
Minimal supports are required for printing and are included in the print files.
Each part of the handle and base will take roughly an hour to print.
The handle and base that are pictured has been printed in Colorfabb Light Brown PLA/PHA on a Felix 3 printer.
The ball is molded from translucent plastic and includes a high brightness white LED, a color cycling RGB LED, a 98mm x 81mm photovoltaic panel, a rechargeable lithium battery, and an on-off switch.
The solar powered light globe is not included in the print files.
The globe is obtained from other sources.
