Christ waiting for the death, Brabant, Brussels, around 1515, Oak stripped, Some traces of polychromy. Musée du Cinquantenaire (Brussels, Belgium). ReMake and ReCap from AutoDesk.
Jesus is sitting on a rock called the “Cold Stone” and waiting to be crucified on Golgotha. This image of devotion invites the believer to meditate on the sufferings endured by Christ. The sculptor does not borrow this scene from the Gospels, but rather from the mysteries of the Passion which took place in the parvis of the churches.
