When I saw that strength was one of the categories to enter under, I knew exactly what I was going to do: a rugged case.
This object is an experiment in internal geometry, to the point that this would be difficult to print. The majority of the case is the front portion, where all of the internal geometry is. The two halves are fastened together by four M1.6 screws, and components are held firmly in place in custom-made cavities. The battery was moved to the center of the phone to help with balance on any side, and it's also held in place by solid material. The back panel does most of the shielding for the battery and is completely solid: no geometry. There is open access to all of the I/O, including the power and volume buttons. Speaking of the volume buttons, they are actuated by a rocker built right into the case. Both cameras are recessed to protect them from scratches, and the screen has a raised bezel to protect it during drops and everyday use. Lastly, the microphones are placed to be utilized for both the front and back cameras, and also for picking up your voice when calling someone.
This has been a ton of fun to work on, and I'm glad I got the opportunity.
