The aim was to create a simple, small number of pieces design, but one that still is fun and actively usable. We wanted to keep the original purpose of the can and use it without any modifications, so it could be used straight away (you can remove the can opnere for better fit). You can just drink the contents fill it up with water pop it into the gun and blast away! You could actually just open the can and blast the beverage if you wanted.
Operation is pretty simple, the fluid flows from the can into the bore when you pull out the bolt. If you rapidly push the bolt in the water squirts out at the end. If you leave the bolt pushed in it will keep the water from flowing out.
The design allows it to be printed really simply with supports. The grip might not need support, but definitely helps to have raft or brim to prevent it from tipping over. Also had to add a couple of fins for the pusher because I wanted to print it standing so I would get a nice circular fit for the bore. You can cut those away with a sharp blade. Also some minor sanding helps here as well.
I did add a thin layer of hot glue to the bolt make it more water tight. And just 2 minutes of sanding of the inside.
Removing support is easy with the correct settings.
Also make sure layer adhesion is good so its water tight.
You can glue the handle to the body but there are holes for M4 hex bolts you wil need a 40mm length bolts.
For a production version I would definitely consider a couple of rubber seals for the bolt and maybe a tiny rubber nipple for the emitter part to be able to control emission better.
I have a tevo tarantula its my first printer and I have only been using it for a month so Im happy it was easy to print although a bit long on the slow setup I had. I think with a decent printer it should be really easy and fast.
Thanks, have fun!
