Fai’ari are quite the diverse people, and not all dream elves are Fell crowns. Awakeners, for example, are eccentric creatures who wield the dream energy of the forest and those who lose their way into its deeper reaches. Not all are aligned with any particular crown, nor do they forcibly have an interest in creating a court. Fell awakeners look like eccentric silver elves, dressed in outlandish fashion that they conjure from the dream itself. They also like to alter their body type, skin or hair color, and even their gender, at will, experimenting with different combinations according to their mood or whims.
Awakeners are in charge of overseeing magical effects in the Fell Courts. Most of them serve as a sort of dream librarians, who collect and catalogue the dreams of mortals, so as to better understand their mortal targets and fight them when needs be; the mightiest, however, join the Fell armies as Nightmare Callers, who use said dream catalogues to Awaken the mortals’ deepest fears into reality.
