Description
This beautiful head was intended to be inserted into a relief figure and probably belonged to the seated figure of a large-scale funerary relief. Stylistically, the head has a resemblance with works by the famous sculptor Praxiteles. It conveys a better impression of their quality and effect than numerous Roman copies of works by this master.
