Description
This is a pediment column in the shape of a model temple depicting a child in high relief. The child's posture is characteristic of the so-called temple-boys, that is statues of children, usually boys, who were dedicated by their parents to the temples. They are portrayed seated with their legs open exposing their genitals, wearing pendants with charms and holding offerings such as fruit or doves. In this case, the boy is portrayed naked but missing features such as the necklace may have been painted.
