This is a green sand ram used for compacting sand by hand in a green sand mold. For casting a mold must be made and in order to have the sand hold its shape it needs to be pressed into the pattern with force. The triangle part or Peen is used for the initial compaction while the Butt side is used at the end when filler sand is added.
Used a speed of 120 mm/s and printed in 3 pieces of PLA. Each can be generated from the openscad file if a % is put in front of 2 out of the 3 last lines. I printed with a 10% infill but if you want to use this item I would reccomend a higher fill so it can last longer from the force being applied.
I would also recommend tightening up the tolerances some on the hangle pegs as they fit a little lose for me. Lastly if your hands are big add an extra ball on the grip by changing the only loop from 1:4 to 1:5.
In order to attached the ends more permently I did run my solder iron around the edges to create a weld. It worked really well even with the loose tolerance.
