Maker Select Mini Berd Air System
Published 2021-04-30T12:38:47+00:00
A Berd Air part cooling system for the Monoprice Maker Select Mini and E3D V6 hot-end, a lightweight but highly effective part cooling system.
BOM
- 3 x M3 22mm screws with nuts
- a small air pump
- 6mm airline tubing
- 15mm of 4mm aluminum or brass pipe
- 2 × LM6LUU Linear Bearings
The M3 screws from the stock carriage may be reused. If you are careful when disassembling the stock carriage, you may be able to reuse the two Linear Bearings. The aluminum or brass pipe can be obtained from most hobby/RC/craft stores or your local hardware store, as can the airline tubing.
NOTE: If you are unable to successfully print the Air Pipe then you can substitute 4mm outer diameter of either brass or aluminum pipe from your local hobby/RC/craft store. It can be a bit tricky to bend and drill the holes, but one length of tubing will give you a lot of tries. ;) I recommend doing the large bend first, then drilling the air holes, then doing the two smaller bends.
Push a ~15mm length of pipe into the hole on top with about half the length exposed. Connect airline tubing to it and then to your air pump. What pump to use? I'd recommend a 12V DC mini air pump from AliExpress (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/-/33006096807.html?spm=a2g0s.8937460.0.0.48532e0ehQ8wXI)
I printed the Carriage with it's left side on the build plate. I printed the Clamp and Tensioners with the large holes against the bed, small holes up. I used ABS with 0.6 mm nozzle and 0.15 layer height, no supports on the Carriage, optional supports on the Clamp and Tensioners.
You can try printing the Air Pipe using FDM. I printed in Standard Resin, 0.05 layer height.
