Here is a middle-aged man, proud of his achievements. The turn of his head, the sharply focused glance, and the determined expression all suggest this.
Finely sculpted in marble around Year 50, the portrait comes from the House of the Citharist in Pompeii. The house is named after a bronze statue found there which represents the god Apollo playing a cithera (lyre).
This object is part of "Scan The World".
