My strong spool holder
My strong spool holder

For a long time now, I wanted to have a spool holder capable to hold any size of filament spools, including the big 2Kg ones. That spool holder would have to be sturdy and strong enough to support the weight of a full spool, and without friction to make sure the filament would unroll without any problem so it doesn't put any tension on the printer's gears.
Thus I've designed this spool holder. It holds a double steel ball bearings connected by an aluminium rod, making the spool rotating around the aluminium rod. To take the spool off and change it it's really simple, one would just lift it off the spool holder, put another spool and put it all down.
It comes with three parts : Both halves of the spool holder, and a cylindrical roll part that goes around the rod and in the spool central hole. The roll part ensure the spool to be perfectly held around the rod, and could be printed in various sizes if the need would arise.
It actually works so well the filament never stress any tension and remains curved, not in a straight line ! I'm happy how it turned out, and hope you'll enjoy this model as well.
Each half took around 26 hours to print, with "fine" settings. Almost no supports are printed. The roll took around 6 hours to print, in vertical position so there's minimal support. Both halves can be left as is, since the dented parts locks them together, but I've glued them for more strenght.
Dimensions : The bearings were 12x32x10 millimeters. The rod's diameter was 12 millimeters and 135 millimeters in length.
