So I was going through some of my old stuff and cleaning out some old prints from my workshop and I came across some of these models I had printed some 2 years ago. What actually happened back then was I was learning to make some video games or online renders and had a ton of these weird and fancy looking 3d models (Mostly free I guess ......) and other software. I thought about trying to print some of these models with my 3d printer so I picked some fancy ones (clearly a bad move by a 3d printing newbie). Most of the models, of course, were too complex and marvelously posed hence unprintable. I know because I tried .... darn! just remembering the troubles is making me loose confidence...again.. :((
Anyways so the models which I did manage to clean and make work were printed and stashed in a cabinet somewhere at the back of my workshop. Since I have now started to post my models and makes I decided why not try to share some of these with the community. So here they are, for your printing and hair pulling pleasure (lol don't worry much these are tested as shown in images). Do try to print them and share a make also you can ask if there is any problem. Good Luck
P.S. I recommend printing the split model as it needs less support and bed adhesion would be better. You can use the single model also but it might need more support and bed adhesion will be a challenge.
Take special note of overhangs and bridge sections. Use supports smartly NOT blindly... a helpful advice.... So I printed the split model and glued them together. The artifacts and aberrations on the model in the picture was my attempt at finishing / acetone smoothing , etc. which went wrong and I gave up. The banding had something to do with my extruder and Z lead screws (older machine and old print) and I don't think these should appear on any of the newer and properly tuned machines also using better quality filament will definitely help. For these prints I was just testing stuff. Oh! one more thing this model does not have any base to stand or balance on so it will not stand upright without using some support. you can try to glue it to some thing and it will hopefully work out, sorry I know I should have made a base with this :( P.S. The full model has glasses on and the sliced model does not ..... yea my bad again. So Thoroughly check the print preview to see which file you can make work with your printer and settings.
Glue or acetone weld the parts together and glue to some sort of a base piece. I suggest if you can use a program like MS 3D builder just make and print one of the primitive shapes in there and use that as a base. Can be a simple shape like an oval or rectangle you can make and print. And hey if any of you guys decide to print this in resin PLEASE share a make as I am looking to buy a resin printer and would like to know how good it is with fine details... on one of my models :)
