I love my Zortrax M200 and I firmly believe that without it I would never have been able to produce the vast majority of my designs. However there's one thing which has always bothered me about it; the spool holder. It's too narrow for some of the spools (especially now Zortrax has enabled the printer to be able to use third party filaments) and it's printed vertically. This means that there's a line of weakness right at the point where it clips onto the back of the printer, and indeed when I first unpacked and assembled the printer the spool holder broke at exactly that point and I had to epoxy it back together.
I decided, therefore, to do a bit of redesign work. This spool holder is 10mm longer so it can now take even the fattest spools, and since it's longer it's also reinforced at the bottom to make sure it can handle spools which are heavier. It's also printed sideways, so there are no lines of weakness at load-bearing points. The tradeoff on this is that it needs a wee bit of finishing at the bottom edge, just to make sure that there are no tiny parts to stop the spool rotating.
So here you go, my fellow Zortrax users. Enjoy!
