With Christmas comes "many a good things"! One gets to spend more time with family, enjoy a beautiful snow cowered landscape (given that one is in those parts of our world that have them), and last but not least, experience the curiosity and joy of discovering what's in one's presents!
These were the things that inspired this creation. A family of reindeers, out for a walk in the forest (where one usually finds them). The little calf is carefully examining a curios tree stump, while the parents have a look-out and takes in the scenery around them. Living in more northern parts of Scandinavia, seeing reindeers cross the road every now and then becomes quite common, and quickly becomes strongly associated with our beautiful winters (not to forget Santa’s reindeers of course).
Tried, and succeeded, printing the model both in PLA and in ABS.
Credits:
These were printed in 0.15 mm layers, and took ~12h and ~23h respectivly. The brown/grey ABS took longer more due to the printer used, rather than the material itself.
Make sure to have good bed adhesion! It's preferable if you can print with less and self-adjusted/placed supports for the bottom of the bellies, ears and tails. Both slicers I used completely covered the reindeer's bellies and necks with support, which were a bit difficult to remove without damaging the legs.
The larger one’s antlers do not require support however, and the medium sized one only needs it for the front prongs.
