Rogue Spool Holder // Wanhao D6
Rogue Spool Holder // Wanhao D6

Since I got my Wanhao D6, I wanted to make the spool holder better, so it can fit all (or at least most) types of filaments. I have seen many here, and also printed many and they either do not work or I need to go shopping for parts like I need to build a SUV axle.
So, here is a solution that works like a charm with no moving parts, and no need to go buy nuts, bolts, ball bearings and shafts.
The spool holder is long enough for all filaments that I've tried, but not too long to make bulk on the back side. The limiter plug has 3 holes to be put in, depending on the filament spool thickness. If you have a really really thick spool (I have a few) than you can remove the limiter plug completely, and the cap on the top will act as a limiter itself.
Print Settings for the spool holder:
Orientation: Vertical
0.2mm layer
Raft: Recommended (3mm offset is fine)
Support: Yes
Infill: 50-100%*
*I printed one on 50% and one on 100%, the one on 50% seems to be strong enough, but when I was tightening it I felt a little bit of cracking, so I printed another one on 100% for the peace of mind.
Print Settings for the limiter plug:
Orientation: Horizontal, face up.
0.1mm layer (if you want it to look neat)
Raft: Not needed
Support: No
Infill: 100%
Print Settings for the top cover:
Orientation: Horizontal, face up
0.1mm layer (if you want it to look neat)
Raft: Recommended (2mm offset is fine)
Support: Yes
Infill: 100%
TIP: If you want to print the top cover without support, flip the cover face down, and lower it below the print surface for the depth of the RF badge. You will be able to print without support, but without the RF badge. Also no need for raft.
Print Settings for the back plate (ADDON):
Orientation: Horizontal, face up
0.1mm layer (if you want it to look neat)
Raft: Recommended (2mm offset is fine)
Support: No
Infill: 100%
