As you've already probably guessed, I'm a bit of a Star Trek fan. One of the lesser-regarded Star Trek spinoff series is Star Trek - Enterprise. Set before the founding of the Federation and about 100 years before the adventures of Captain Kirk and the USS Enterprise it tells the story of the first deep-space exploration vessel, the NX-01 Enterprise, her captain Jonathan Archer and her crew. Personally I thought it was really good and it deserved much better to be summarily cancelled just when it was really getting started. I decided therefore I'd go big or go home, and I'd have a crack at bringing the NX-01 patch, worn on the shoulder of the uniform, into the 3D printing world.
I'm not going to lie to you, this coaster is a cast-iron son of a bitch to put together. It took me the best part of three hours, with tweezers, to get it all into a condition where I was happy with it, but now it's finished I'm immensely proud of it. So best of luck and I hope you'll enjoy it too! It also has holes in the back for mounting 3x5mm neodymium magnets so it can be retrofitted as a magnetic sign, or so it can be permanently mounted.
