Description
The statue portrays the Egyptian god Osiris, and was made by Roman artists in the late 2nd c. AD. Modern restorations have altered the original apparearance of the sculpture, often interpreted as a goddess. The snake, wrapped around the god, symbolizes the eternal cycle of death and rebirth which osiris Chronocrator was associated.
