Description
This figure of Christ originally sat above one of the entrances to the Church of San Lorenzo de Carboeiro in Pontevedra in noth-west Spain. The rethoric of Christ enthroned in judgement had great resonance with medieval rulers. In the Bible, the throne was symbolic of divine authority, as Christ is described as enthroned at God's right hand, reigning over his kingdom.
