Mark the float before adding the water the first time, then you will always know when it's time to refill the reservoir!
(Note: Since 3D printing tends to be porous, you'll want to apply a sealant to the water reservoir and float prior to use.)

All angles are 45 degrees or steeper, so no support material is needed (not even for the ledges!).
It's best to print the float by itself, so you can specify no infill (you want it as light as possible, so it will float).
