In a distant and nearly-forgotten past, the Star Pharaohs were barely-sapient mining droids built by the genius race the Makers for one purpose and one purpose only: To mine the extremely rich vein of asteroids known as the Miles of Prosperity.
Once there, they found Hexcite- the magnificent crystal that gave them the cognitive gifts and galactic ambition that ascended them into the Star Pharaohs.
However, the Hexcite is as mysterious as it is it is powerful, because not every machine exposed to their energies is granted their gifts.
The Unascended may be primitive compared to the rest of the Star Pharaohs, but they are still children of the Makers, and all children of the Makers stand as glorious beacons above the rest of the galaxy- whether they have received the gift of the Hexan or otherwise.
