This chess set was designed to be easily transportable, environmentally friendly, simple and unique.

The figures take the shapes of rings which when taken from the game are put on a stand. The stand is meant to resemble a classic pawn.
A complete chess set composes of two stands with 16 rings each. There are two versions of the stand. One is thinner and the rings are looser on it and the other is thicker and looks a bit more organised when stacked. I prefer the thinner version because it’s simple, feels nicer when stacking figures and looks nicer with a few rings which is how it is most of the game.
It can also be used as a checkers if you print more pawns.
The stopper at the top of the sand can be used as a spinning top which you can use as a time limit for each turn if you want to play speed chess. Spin the top and you have until it stops spinning to take your turn.
The download contains all the models ready to be 3D printed on a 200 mm print bed. All parts are placed on the print bed as we would print them to save you time.
Paper Tube – Re-use any tube you have laying around
Paper Chess Board – I’ve created a word template that lets you change the color of the board by changing the theme of the document or the individual colors of the theme. It is in the download files. The template is on an A3 paper (Word doesn’t support bigger) which is enough but it’s better to print the same files as an A2 sized document (choose “Scale to paper size”) for the figures to fit with comfortable spacing.
Glue – to join the top with the pin
At 100% scale the models are made to fit the tube that is part of the Prusa MK3S kit box which has an inside diameter 40 mm. The largest model which is the stand base is 146mm tall.
You can scale the model so it fits a tube you have available.
3D PRINTING SETTINGS
The model needs no supports. I used a 0.15 mm layer height to print the figures and the top and 0.2 mm for the stand.

Printing settings will vary greatly depending on your specific printer.
