Jean Carries (Lyon, 1855 - Paris, 1894) was a sculptor famed for his painted ceramic sculptures of women. Their themes of dreaming and melacholy were intrinsic to his pieces. It is still unknown to this day if these sculptures were created from studies of other sculptures of a life model or completely fictional, birthed from Carries mind. His inspiration can be found with chinese artworks.
