Reliquary Bust, Flanders (Brabant), c. 1510, Polychromed and gilded wood, Los Angeles County Museum or Art, Ahmanson Building
This beautiful reliquary bust is situated in the middle of a gallery surrounded by object which were originally meant to guide and inspire the faithful. There is nothing more provided as to her identity past the fact that it was a reliquary bust from Flanders made in the beginning of 16th century. But she is stunning in her presence and must capture the attention of all who walk-by. The details of her costume and hair accessories alone can be sources of information as well as fascination. One almost feel the need to bend down in order to hear what she is about to whisper.
