Description
This statue-menhir originally comes from the French department of Gard (South of France) where it was found in a plain associated with a neolithic environment. If you pay close attention, you may be able to distinguish the eyes and facial T of the arch of the eyebrow stay, but also the outline of the face framed, two arms wih their hands, the sides lined with folds of clothes (on the edge of the stone).
The making of this statue-menhir could be meant as an act of gratitude towards a chieftain. Statue-menhirs were mostly linked to funeral rites and collective tomns, which they were the guardians of.
