Description
Silvanus, 2nd century, Italy, Marble. Musée du Cinquantenaire (Brussels, Belgium). Made with ReMake and ReCap Pro from AutoDesk.
Silvain, god of the woodlands and the fertility of the fields, is represented here following the diagram of a very famous classical Greek statue, the Doryphore of Polyclète. The Roman sculptor added a tunic, a goatskin cloak and fruit on his left arm. The head was originally bearded, the right hand holding a serpette, with a dog at his feet.
