Description
Acheulean hand axes were first made by Homo erectus approximately 1.6 million years ago. This replica was printed from a digital model of a stone original, which was recovered in Cape Town, South Africa. These bifacial tools are characterized by their teardrop shape and sharp cutting edges. They were used for a variety of purposes, and have been referred to as the “Swiss Army Knife of the Lower Paleolithic.”
