Thar is a nation in the far north of Arkovir, a place almost untouched by sunlight. The Tharan people worship gods of darkness and malice, and during the winter months, they make use of the shorter days to raid and reave their way across Arkovir without the hindrance of the sun, stealing wealth and slaves from other nations.
In their natural habitat, away from the scorching sunlight, they are pale to the point of translucence, but when they are touched by sunlight, their skin darkens to midnight black; a natural defence mechanism . As such, they are widely known as Dark Elves, but in the Aelan tongue they are known as "Skathier" or Pale-born.
Despite this, not all of their number subscribe to their typical way of life, many Skathier choose to shun the culture of their birth and make their way out from the Ever-dark and into the world of mankind, using their magical talents to forge a place among the sun born species...
