Here, I proudly introduce to you my 3rd entry for the Ian Wright Floreon contest! This design is actually my 2nd version of my "Wright Modulation Two" design, and the main difference is the hinge design. Because my design allows you to integrate real metal hinges, I wanted to create a better way of securing them to the glasses, so that's exactly what this version 2 does.
Plastic hinges have a tendency to break, and given that these glasses were designed for 3D printing, using real metal hinges was a must (as stated in the project brief). Ideally, the design chosen by Mr. Wright should be strong enough to be worn for day to day use, so that is why I believe it was crucial to design these glasses to use real metal hinges.
Some other great things about this design is it allows you to choose whatever color scheme you like, so choose away Mr. Wright!
Apart from looking cool, this customizable feature also serves as an easy way to install the lenses. Simply insert the lenses into the top frame and slide the bottom pieces in and that's it! Now if you don't like that feature, I have included a combined version as well if you would like to pop in the glass the old fashioned way.
Along with that, I also made it easy to attach the temples to the hinges. Simply press the end of the hinge into front hole of the temple and glue if needed. If the fit is too tight, either file down the inside of the hole or you can heat up the hinge and press it for an even more secure fit.
And most of all, I made sure to design glasses that would look and feel great on Mr. Wright. To do this, I started off by researching what type of glasses he likes (to which I concluded were the "round" style) and then I went through several different design iterations until I found one or two that I liked. Then I used the scan of Ian's head to ensure that the glasses would fit nice and comfortably and that the temples would rest on his ears as closely as possible.
And that's it! I'm really happy the way these glasses turned out and hope you like it too Mr. Wright!
