Oberylon, The Ancient Gemstone Dragon
Most know of the insidious chromatic dragons or the benevolent metallic dragons. The gemstone or crystal dragons are much more rare than their well known kin.
Gemstone dragons are powerful psionics and are the source of some of the most potent psi-crystals or psionic foci. Their minds so powerful that most of the species have given up on using their wings for flight. Instead, they use their psionics to levitate and hover. Their wings are instead used to guide them as they float through cavernous tunnels. Before they grow old enough to psionically carry themselves, the tips of their digits are sticky so they can move up walls or along ceilings with ease.
Unlike their metallic and chromatic kin, their scales are subdermal. Their tough bumpy leathery skin is quite difficult to pierce, but much easier than most dragons. Their subdermal scales still weave a protective barrier beneath their skin that makes them quite hardy. Older gemstone dragons will actually subconsciously project telekinetic energy around themselves to further protect themselves.
Instead of having large draconic scales, as a gemstone dragon ages it slowly become encrusted in gemstones. Most erupting from it's skin where a dragon would have fins or horns. The larger the crystals or cluster of crystals, the older the dragon.
Beyond the scales and lack of flight-ready wings, their faces generally look more akin to other reptiles. The maw of a gemstone dragon also includes molars to crush their food which tends to be encrusted in dense crystals.
One of the most terrifying abilities of a dragon is it's breath weapon. The gemstone dragons have a petrifying breath that turns their prey into crystal. They also have other destructive abilities including powerful psionic blasts and harnessing elemental energy associated with their gemstone type or hue.
Gemstone Dragon hoards tend to follow the colour scheme of dragon's gemstone hue. Items that go against the colour scheme tend to be quite powerful, rare and either an artifact of great important or filled with vast knowledge.

Oberylon is an ancient gemstone dragon that has cited as having a green or even yellowish gemstones all over it's body. Most that have entered it's domain slowly succumb to the mental interference that causes great pain to sentient creatures. Thus, all accounts of this creature or any ancient gemstone dragon is usually fragmented or inconsistent with other accounts.
All accounts describes it's bright glowing eyes and large crystals along it's back. As Oberylon moved through the caverns, it's wings acted almost like spider legs walking along the rocky walls.
Those that witnessed the great creature use it's magic said it's crystals glowed and pulsed before it unleashed a blast of energy. Even after the attack, energy would arc between it's large crystals.

So excited to bring the Emerald dragon into the world! Printing it in the green transparent resin made this model sooo much cooler looking. Awesome thing about this model is you could print it in any color transparent resin and get an awesome combo of crystal dragons! As always love love love the sculpts Comet Lord Minis!
