Looking for a compact solution to photograph your WIP or finished minis? Want a solution that can easily integrate into your painting kit?
This listing includes the photo box and lid modules. They can be used as standalone photography solution or integrated into any number of my other modules to create a custom travel hobby solution!
Bright white paper is recommended for best results. I personally use 24lb white letter paper cut to size for my personal photo box. See listing photos for more detail.
Paper should be cut to the following sizes:
Rear sheet: 204mm x 134mm
Top sheet: 279mm (full length of 8.5x11" sheet) x 102mm. Top sheet should be folded in the center for storage as well as approximately 33mm in from each side to fit on the top of the photo box.
Inner surfaces should be painted with a matte white primer/paint if not printing this using bright white filament.
D20 photo shown for reference. Included collage picture shows both a lightly edited version (white point and shadows) as well as a version straight from my Pixel 7 camera.
I've designed this modular system for myself to solve the problem of either having to carry my full collection in a large case, or loosely (and unsecured) in something like a tote bag. All modules are stackable and include recesses to glue in 8mm diameter x 3mm thick magnets top further secure them into a single portable kit. Combine this module with any number of my other modules for infinite combinations!
Please check out my other designs as well!
Print in FDM at 0.2mm layer height. I print the lid with top facing down and it does not require supports. The walls can be printed with the flat surface down and also do not require supports. The case should be printed with the bottom facing down with supports enabled.
Be sure to use a large brim and a freshly cleaned build plate! These parts are large and flat so they like to curl up if your printer is not well optimized. I use a Bambu A1 and the textured PEI sheet at 50c to minimize warping.
These parts are approximately 215mm x 150mm so please ensure they will fit on your specific print bed.
I printed mine in PLA with 0.8mm walls and 10% infill.
