Description
The youth from Bythinia - the favourite of Hadrian who was deified after his tragic death in the waters of the Nile - is represented with the features of his principal portrait. His head is encircled by a double-torse crown with effigies carved in relief portraying Nerva (or Trajan?) and Hardian, suggesting that Antnous is depicted here as a priest of the Imperial cult.
