A mechanical concept art toy made using solidworks. It is a space towing vessel, a cockpit on a giant engine.
The model has two axis at centre to rotate, one axis is controlling the engine blade rotation, another one is controlling the angle of the engine blade, simply a interesting mechanical toy to be playing with.
It was basically a variable pitch mechanism that is made into a toy, which the mechanism was widely used in ship propellers.
STL model itself contain 8 seperate parts with minimal tolorence of 0.3mm
This model was printed on a FDM printer, it is better to printed the whole model facing up, like launching a rocket.
I also printed it using water soluble support, which all the piece are printed together, allows the model to work after the support has been dissloved away.
I am not sure wheather the mechanism would work if no water soluble support is used.
This model was made for Sinterit design challenges for SLS printer, since I have not experiece in using SLS printer, I hope this model can really work on SLS printer.
