Description
This was awesome thank you so much! I printed this on my Elegoo Mars 3 using Chitubox to get it set up. I bet someone with more UV resin printing experience could print this out of the box, but I'm fairly new so I had to deal with my own inexperience. I want to first say that this is an awesome model and I couldn't have overcome my challenges if the model itself hadn't been well designed. Basically when I tried printing the rings (Version 2) together, all at once the centermost ring and the eye failed to print. I was using a 45 degree angle with "Add all" light supports. I need to get better at supports, but I'm lazy so I decided to use the "Separate model" feature in Chitubox and then re-print those two failed parts separately. To experiment, I ran it with two copies of each. A copy laying flat, directly on the bed with supports only added for the interlocking protrusion, and a copy at a 45-degree angle using the "Add All" feature for light supports. The first way failed again, but the latter worked! However, even light supports kind of ruin the finish on the supported side in that it didn't have the lustrous shiny finish that the unsupported sides had. I probably could have sanded everything, but again, I'm lazy, so I just glued my rings in place keeping those sides toward the back. Also, FYI, I hollowed the base using the "Hollow" feature in Chitubox to save resin and make it lighter to hang. Again, thanks so much for this model, it was a huge hit at Christmas and now has a permanent spot in our D&D room.
